Physical Activities

Simple physical exercises to promote mental and physical health
Resting eyes is another exercise at  OBADO.
Older people fully engage in physical exercises to improve their fitness and mental well-being.
It was the "pause" dance  - very interesting.

Older people are encouraged to exercise regularly to reduce the risk of falling as recent evidence suggests.

Brain Stimulation Activities

Stimulating the brain through numbers, letters, colors enhances brain function.
Activities resumed at the Day Centre.
Solving Word puzzles strengthens older peoples" social bond and improves their mental speed and thought processes.
Older people enjoy various activities at the Day Centre including written quizes for mental stimulation to improve memory
Older people are challenged.

It is all laughter playing "Snakes and ladders" at the Day Centre.

It was fun learning new words as a group - older people exercising their brains.
Stimulating the brain through numbers, letters, colors enhances brain function.
Strategic card games exercise memory and concentration, which help improve memory and prevent cognitive decline in older people.
Card activity requires memorization or short-term recall which is helpful for exercising the brain and keeping memory sharp.

Food

Older people are enjoying their meal. Bon appetite!
University students prepared a lovely Nigerian meal - yummy!
A Jamaican and  Asian blended dish of rice and curry.

Yummy chicken curry, rice, potatoes, and vegetables.
Cultural foods served at OBADO included Ugandan chapatis and fried chicken, enjoyed by older people during lunch.
The yummy meal today has been Nigerian Jerof rice with roasted chicken and vegetables - healthy meals enjoyed by oldèr people
OBADO  provides healthy meals to older people to promote their general health

It was awesome at the Day Centre on 3/6/21 when OBADO was visited by three Mental Health Students from the University of Salford.

OBADO is a registered Community Interest Company recently set up by two experienced social workers, (one also a learning disability nurse), after consulting with and listening to the needs of Older Black Africans in Manchester.
